The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is committed to developing an industry-leading digital workplace. The new Business Analyst will serve as the organization’s primary resource for our association management system (iMIS EMS) by translating organizational needs, building dynamic dashboards, implementing automation and efficiencies, and providing data support and validation.The Business Analyst will report to the Senior Manager of IT and will serve as the main point of contact to all organization departments for discussions regarding the iMIS EMS. The Business Analyst will bring their expertise to the table during our upgrade process and throughout the deep dive into our data and business processes. This role will help the entire organization fully leverage the iMIS EMS and strive for continuous improvement.The Business Analyst will have flexibility with GFOA’s hybrid work environment and should plan to be in the Chicago office 2 to 3 days a week. GFOA is an equal opportunity employer.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaborate closely with teams to understand their requirements and translate business needs into iMIS functionality.Develop a deep understanding of the iMIS database structure to efficiently create custom queries, dashboards, and reports tailored to meet the organization's reporting and analytical needs.Align projects to strategic goals.Prioritize technical and functional requirements based on their impact on organizational goals.Deliver actionable recommendations and reports backed by data analysis.Articulate data-driven changes to processes, products, services, software, and hardware to improve efficiency and add value to the organization.Ensure that the iMIS staff site is up-to-date, user-friendly, and aligned with organizational needs, providing staff with easy access to relevant information and resources.Configure user-defined tables, fields, and panels; create reference/look-up tables.Support public and member facing site with updates and reconfigurations enhancing the user experience.Setup, configure, and test solutions to address organizational needs.Conduct training sessions and provide ongoing support and education to colleagues to optimize their use of iMIS, empowering them to leverage its capabilities for improved performance across functional areas.Proven experience with data integration with other systems.Plan and implement program extensions and integrations to iMIS.Research, evaluate, and implement third-party products and solutions that address specific organizational needs, ensuring compatibility and seamless iMIS integration.Requirements:Strong analytical skills, demonstrated in a similar position over a minimum of 2 years.Strongly prefer extensive knowledge of iMIS modules, capabilities, features and functions;

Certified iMIS Professional designation is ideal.

Will consider experience in other association management systems if transferrable skills are demonstrated.Excellent understanding of relational databases and objects; skills in SQL and other databases for extracting, preparing, and transforming data, data modeling and normalization.Experience in application implementation and REST API.Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.Experience in successfully introducing and managing change.Proven collaboration skills and excellent communication skills; ability to translate complex technical information to management and end-users.
