TriMet is looking for an individual interested in strengthening their data skills! This role will have ownership over ad-hoc data requests and reporting within our Fare Revenue Department.

The Fare Systems Analyst provides both operational and project support for Fare Revenue systems. The Fare Systems Analyst serves as a liaison between end users, field technicians, system engineers, management and system vendors. This role applies expert-level knowledge and technical skills to resolve and coordinate with subject matter experts (SMEs) for reported operational issues. Based on a close and effective relationship with both business stakeholders, IT subject matter experts, and vendors, the Fare Systems Analyst helps TriMet find effective and efficient ways to improve fare collection through the use of technology. This position will lead segments of the software development lifecycle such as planning, analysis, design, testing, and implementation of software and hardware solutions.

This position works closely with division business partners, IT project teams, IT leads, Public Affairs, Legal and Procurement as well as a wide array of vendors and TriMet’s partner Agencies, C-Tran and the City of Portland.

This role requires being in the office three (3) days per week.

Essential Functions:

Analyze and troubleshoot software and hardware issues related to existing electronic fare systems for end-users, riders, technical analysts, managers and vendors.

Identify and communicate system errors which surface during regression testing to eFare System Engineers and supporting vendors. Provide analysis and track issues until resolved.

Collaborate with business partners, project managers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders in the creation of various project-related plans including those for change management, communications, analysis, design, configuration, testing, transition to operations, training and operational support.

Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to identify alternative ways of meeting business needs. Consider existing business processes and technologies to identify a viable range of options for meeting business needs. Address both functional and non-functional considerations. Craft alternatives analyses that document and compare the feasibility, costs, risks, and benefits of various options.

Track user reported hardware and software issues and submit trouble tickets. Analyze trouble report trends and communicate issues and recommended solutions to all stakeholders.

Provide technical assistance to frontline staff. Resolve and respond to user reported electronic fare issues such as the mobile application, electronic fare validators, websites, and ticket vending machines.

Supports the physical fare media inventory process including forecasting usage, tracking inventory levels, and ordering inventory from vendors for TriMet, C-TRAN, and Portland Streetcar fare media requests.

Perform requirements gathering and validation using appropriate methods including interviews, joint application design sessions, analysis, current system documentation, business process modeling (including rules and logic), and data gathering and analysis for new features and products.

Clearly document scope and define critical measures of success for proposed work. Documentation may take any of several forms such as feature and requirements statements, process design/re-design, epics, or user stories.

Work closely with IT and business stakeholders including managers, directors, and subject matter experts from the business and enterprise architects, developers, engineers, cybersecurity specialists, to create IT roadmaps for the planned achievement of complex, long-range technology goals.

Manage the end-to-end life cycle of small projects, supported by the advice and counsel of a management.

Manage small procurements, supported by the advice and counsel of a project manager.

Assist in the creation of contracts and agreements such as statements of work and service level agreements.

Position Requirements:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Computer Science being preferred.

Two (2) years of technical operations or project manager experience are required.

One (1) year of direct electronic fare collection experience is preferred.

Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

*The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the “credited experience”.

Salary RangeMinimum: $83,587.00Maximum: $125,382.00

Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
