Capital Project Engineer

supporting the

Polyurethanes

Division located in

Houston Port, Texas . This position will report to the

Manager, Maintenance & Engineering.Job ScopeThis position is responsible for the project management and engineering support for capital and expense projects.As the Capital Project Engineer you will:This role will spend time supporting capital project improvements 90% and maintenance improvements 10%Responsible for project management and construction which includes construction contract administration, construction contractor oversight, field inspection, problem solving, start-up assistance, coordination, cost control, and scheduling.Responsible for developing scope of work, construction package and schedule for a variety of projects.Responsible for performing Capital Coordination duties including Project Cost Controls and maintaining fixed asset register.Responsible for seeking out construction expertise and conducting bid meetings per Huntsman policies.Provides assistance to ensure projects are developed and executed in compliance with Huntsman PSM EH&S procedures including hazard analysis and management of change.Provides written instructions concerning the maintenance and proper operation of project related mechanical equipment.Provides Mechanical Structural expertise to the plant.Responsible for developing spare parts list for new equipment.Responsible to work with Operations for project cost justification.Other general responsibilities:Backup support for Maintenance & Engineering Manager functions.Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.Keeps current with technical developments in his/her respective field through outside study, trade journals, technical societies, and seminars.Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.Participates in and completes company-required training programs.Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.Leads root cause activities for stationary and rotating equipment failures.Required Qualifications:You must possess the

Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.Minimum Qualification:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.8+ years of relevant working experience in a similar role.5+ years of direct project or construction management.Skills and Knowledge:Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.Good oral and written skills are a necessity.Knowledge of fixed and rotation equipment in a refinery/chemical plant setting highly desirable.Communicates tactfully and effectively both verbally and in writing and maintains effective work relations with those encountered during the course of employment.Flexibility and adaptability to new instructions and/or dynamic organizational priorities is critical for job success.Preferred Qualifications:Professional Engineering License a plus.Job estimating experience.Huntsman is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
