Salary range:

A reasonable estimate for a full-time position is $70,295 - $91,719 (based on salary points 2-11). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.

Percent time:

Variable, based on the course load assigned.

Anticipated start:

Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2024 through fall quarter 2025. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment.

Position duration:

Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

Position DescriptionThe Education Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of

Supervisors of Teacher Education in English and/or Social Sciences . Responsibilities include supervising student teachers in middle and high school classroom settings and may include the following additional duties based on programmatic needs and student enrollment: teaching the beginning, intermediate, and advanced student teaching seminars at the University; and serving on Education Department committees. Supervisors are also responsible for assisting credential candidates to complete a comprehensive assessment of their instruction based on the

California Teaching Performance Expectations .

The Department prepares approximately 60 credential students per year for teaching in K-12 California public schools. The program, which also grants a Master of Arts in Education, operates on a year-round schedule (summer to summer). The University of California, Santa Cruz, a Hispanic Serving Institution, serves a mix of suburban and rural schools in which many students are immigrants or the children of immigrants. We are committed to inquiry-based pedagogies for preparing teachers to improve the education of linguistically and culturally diverse students and promote equity and social justice. Supervisors of teacher education may hold full-time (100%) appointments during the academic year. Appointments are based on student enrollment and are typically less than 100% time, in which case, accepted candidates may also apply to the Education Department's Lecture Pool if they would like to be considered for an additional appointment as lecturer.

Applicants who are authorized bilingual teachers (BCLAD or equivalent) are encouraged to apply.

Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.

QualificationsBasic qualifications

B.A./B.S. degree (or equivalent foreign degree).

Valid California Clear Single Subject Teaching Credential in English or Social Sciences.

Teaching Experience in K-12 schools.
