Senior Software Engineer

DescriptionThe Senior Software Engineer will be a full stack developer, working with teams in the development and delivery of key technology components under the IM New Business and Underwriting Technology organization. IM New Business and Underwriting area is currently undertaking key strategic initiatives to enhance onboarding/purchase experience and automate policy approval/issue process. This role will work directly with solution architects, cross-functional stakeholders, and development team members to design, develop and deliver the technical solutions that will support the business’s vision, strategy, and goals. The role will specifically support the objectives aligned with implementing new onboarding/underwriting solutions and replacing legacy platforms. This position will have hands-on involvement in the development process and requires full knowledge of Scrum and SAFe. You may be asked to provide input on other team members for the performance management process.You areA self-starter, continuous learner and experienced technical leader who is able to transform abstract ideas into actionable customer solutions, partnering across the company with architects, engineers, product managers, business partners, and executive stakeholders.You willDevelop frontend and backend software. Work with offshore counterpart to coordinate completion of all team assignments, ensuring deadlines and milestones are met.Work with the development team(s) to ensure consistent software architecture and coding practices are used in all applications. Look for opportunities to create shared code modules to use across applications.Inform project stakeholders on progress and potential problems that jeopardize deadlines and milestones. Make recommendations and modifications; remove obstacles.Unit test and support performance tests; troubleshoot programs and tune for performance.Solve issues and errors in programs focusing on implementation design.Work with other developers to improve applications and establish best practices.Interpret user requirements and identify new technical solutions.Ensure all database programs meet company and performance requirements.Stay abreast of new technology trends and advantages. Make recommendations for direction of new and existing products. Define application roadmaps which includes a strategy around minimizing technical debt, and refactoring code to remove existing technical debt.Review and approve all coding and documentation, user manuals, testing documentation, and procedures for existing and future applications.Ensure compliance with security, privacy, legal, infrastructure, and administrative/corporate processes and policies.Work with Production Support and other Shared Services teams in support of our products and customers.Other duties as required.You Have:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field5-6 years of full stack professional software development experience.5+ years of experience with Microsoft .net technologies, including dotnet core.5+ years of experience with front-end technologies/framework including React JS, Node JS, HTML, and CSS.Experience with service-oriented and cloud native software architecturesExperience with modern web application development, including build tools, testing, and CI/CDExperience with secure programming practices, software delivery and cloud security principlesExperience with cloud technology including AWS, Docker, SNS/SQSExperience with source control and development workflows: Bitbucket, GitFamiliarity with API architectures including microservice strategyProven track record of developing and supporting large scale business critical systems.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; solid understanding of coding aesthetics, able to review code, and provide suggestionsMust be comfortable in a fast pace, changing environment where the majority of your teammates are remote and/or in different timezones.Jump in and hit the ground running with a positive attitude. Not easily deterred by ambiguity.Location & Travel:Hybrid, 2 Days a week at our office in NYC, Holmdel, NJ, or Bethlehem, PA.Salary Range$91,260.00 - $149,925.00The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate.
