The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for activities that contribute to the operational effectiveness and excellence of the Finance and Accounting organization. As a key Relay's Information Technology team member, the Business Analyst will design and document processes, workflows, create reports, dashboards, and provide support to our Finance and Accounting process initiatives and/or projects. These will be guided through the lens of Relay's IT Strategic framework. Using a consultative approach, the Analyst will guide and support the Finance and Accounting team through project and process development. This team member analyzes and combines information from a variety of sources and applications (such as technology, documentation, processes, and teams within all Relay operations) to ensure solutions meet the needs of Relay Resources. The Business Analyst will be a systems and process functional expert applying appropriate best practices in a successful manner and will be the point of contact between the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Information Officer.Analysis and Documentation:Analyzes and validates business needs through stakeholder meetings and documentation review.Reviews, analyzes, and creates detailed documentation of business systems/processes and end user needs, including workflow, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify processes or computer programs.Identifies and establishes system and process parameters on a project-by-project basis to define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics.Creates workflow diagrams using Visio and other software tools (as needed) to communicate As-Is and To-Be relationships with detailed narrative requirements.Must be able to translate Finance project and reporting needs to consultants, developers, and other internal or external stakeholders.Communicates changes, enhancements, and modifications of Finance/ Accounting business requirements - verbally or through written documentation - to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are clearly understood.Creates and updates training documents with assistance from the functional team staff, as needed for operational implementation.Finance And Accounting CollaborationConducts interviews to gather requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, and other methods.Research, review, and synthesize the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these systems or processes.Assists in conducting research on products to meet agreed-upon requirements and to support purchasing efforts.Participates in the quality assurance of purchased solutions to ensure features and functions have been enabled and optimized.Analyzes and verifies requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards. Issues and documents change logs when required.Develops and utilizes standard project templates to write requirements specifications accurately and concisely.Ensure systems and processes adhere to Relay's Data Governance policy.Translates conceptual requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/project team.Provides project task updates to Finance and Accounting Leadership team and Information Technology team as required to ensure on-time delivery.IntegrationWorking across the organization and other roles, plan and implement integrations with other key systems and applications.OtherMay be asked to perform other duties in a timely manner, consistent with internal processes and with flexibility to meet urgent and important needs.Qualifications And Education RequirementsMinimum 10 years prior experience in a similar role.Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.Demonstrated problem-solving and resolution skills.Highly proficient computer skills, including financial systems, Excel, and Word.Ability to communicate complex technical matters effectively with technical and non-technical audiences alike.Active listener who brings groups to a conclusion.Highly organized and detail-oriented.Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service for internal and external customers.Capable of establishing strong working relationships with team members.Ability to prioritize independently, make good decisions, and formulate process efficiencies for areas of responsibility.Ability to pass drug screening, criminal history background and credit checks, and/or fingerprinting as appropriate at any time during employment.
