What you’ll do:

Design, implement, and scale critical content understanding capabilities and services to support Snap's most strategic initiatives.Build a next-generation content understanding framework that improves experimentation velocity and application performance.Advocate for and apply best practices when it comes to availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management.Set the strategy, build a roadmap, create measurable goals, and lead your team to deliver.Collaborate with Product, Data Science and Engineering teams, and executive stakeholders.Evaluate the technical tradeoffs of major decisions and be a strong technical mentor.Hire, grow and retain high-performing team members.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proven track record of operating highly-available systems at scale.Experience with leading an engineering team.Ability to lead and execute large, complex technical initiatives.Excellent programming and software design skills, including debugging, performance analysis, and test design.Ability to proactively learn new concepts and technology and apply them at work.Skilled at solving ambiguous problems.Strong collaboration and mentorship skills.Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience.11+ years of experience working in software engineering.2+ years of experience managing a team.Experience with distributed systems, micro-services, and web development.Preferred Qualifications:

Masters/PhD in a technical field such as computer science.Experience working with machine learning, content understanding, recommendation and ranking systems.Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or related deep learning frameworks.Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Ray, NoSQL solutions, Memcache/Redis, Google/AWS services.Experienced in MLOps and managing production machine learning lifecycle.Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments.Experience with building and maintaining mission-critical and highly-available global systems.Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.Zone A (CA, WA, NYC) : The base salary range for this position is $230,000-$335,000 annually.Zone B : The base salary range for this position is $219,000-$318,000 annually.Zone C : The base salary range for this position is $196,000-$285,000 annually.This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
