Job Description

What’s the role?We are looking for a Machine Learning Software Engineer II to join the Delivery Accuracy team within the Fulfillment initiative.In this role, you will be responsible for diving into the nuance of Etsy’s fulfillment data to build ML solutions that generate real-world predictions for complex calculations such as delivery speed and cost. You’ll work closely with Product and ML Engineers to bridge the gaps between how we collect data and how we apply it to build models that can deliver value to end users. You and your team will own the full cycle of fulfillment-related Machine Learning infrastructure and model development: devising, training, testing, releasing, observing, and optimizing.Does the idea of being part of the founding group of engineers to build the foundation of ML in our initiative excite you? If so, this could be the perfect match!This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager and the base salary range will be 142,000 - 184,000 USD per year. For this role, we are considering candidates based in in the United States who are either remote, flex, or office-based.What’s this team like at Etsy?The Delivery Accuracy team sits within the Core Fulfillment initiative, which is a group that helps sellers manage and fulfill their orders, while also setting buyers' expectations around fulfillment, so they can make well-informed purchase decisions. Our team is responsible for providing Etsy buyers with accurate estimated delivery dates, and giving sellers the right tools to help us predict the most accurate delivery dates possible.What does the day-to-day look like?Collaborate closely with a team of 6 Full Stack Product Engineers, ML Engineer(s), a Product Manager, and Data Analysts to develop ML solutions to more accurately predict Estimated Delivery Dates, based on seller and shipping carrier performance.Collaborate with our cross-functional teams and business partners across Etsy.Help plan and develop innovative solutions to complex business problems.Develop with an eye on quality, using performance monitoring tooling, automated and manual testing, and observability tools to verify the correctness and quality of your work.Help establish and maintain monitoring and alerting systems around Machine Learning for Fulfillment.Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! Qualifications

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:Experience making products with public cloud providers, such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure.Ability to use infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and similar tools.Successful track record of collaboration with distributed teams of both technical and non-technical individuals.Experience working with production systems around Machine Learning models at scale.Enjoying thinking about the implications of your work on end users. You are comfortable collaborating with Product Managers to ensure that you’re delivering impactful product features.Having excellent communication skills, and being enthusiastic and forward-looking!Being invested in Etsy’s vision, mission, and values.
