Position Summary
A Senior Scientist in the Compound Management (CM) Data Support team plays an important role in the stewardship of the Pfizer compound collection specializing in solutioning, data flows, and material workflows & logistics. You will collaborate with the Primary Pharmacology Group (PPG), hit follow-up, lead optimization, External Research Solutions, and Medicinal chemistry stakeholders, to ensure timely, high-quality access to the Pfizer compound collection. Partnerships with Digital, Contract Research Organizations, and external software & hardware vendors are also a key aspect of the role. As a senior member of the CM Data Support team, you will also have significant input in defining plans and strategy for the team.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders, both internal & external, to analyze business requirements and design & implement lab-specific information & data-driven solutions.Provide daily technical subject-matter-expert expertise, troubleshooting assistance and guidance on the applications and tools, both at the enterprise level & lab-specific level, that support CM workflows to other CM colleagues and internal stakeholders.Collaborate and partner with Pfizer Digital to develop lab-specific solutions that address CM workflow, data mining, analysis, storage, and curation requirements, and adhere to Digital enterprise level requirements, such as security, change & configuration management.Participate in CM project teams as a key contributor by providing insight & expertise on data handling, applications, laboratory automation & material logistics to solve issues of significant complexity and improve the efficiency of operations in Compound Management.Produce high-quality and detailed documentation for implemented solutions, including workflow & data diagrams, description of requirements, use cases, design, tests, users guides & standard operating procedures.Participate in the evaluation and testing of internally and externally developed tools and applications, providing expertise in the planning, execution, recording and reporting of results.Contribute to the strategic direction, daily decision-making, and operation of Compound Management, focusing on compound stewardship, efficiency, quality assurance and continuous improvement by effectively collaborating with other Compound Management teams, such as the Liquid Store, Sample Logistics, and Automation.Identify and champion new ideas and technological strategies that will enable innovation, continuous improvement and capability enhancements in workflows and operations within Compound Management.Present technological advancements & solutions internally to Compound Management stakeholders and externally to industry peers.Act as a technical and scientific resource within Compound Management’s data support team.Mentor junior team members by modeling courage & excellence in your work and contributing to an environment of equity and joy that promotes active engagement & learning.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science, Engineering, or a related field with 9+ years of relevant experience in developing solutions.Expertise in databases (Oracle/PostgreSQL), query languages (SQL/PLSQL), and database navigation/management tools (Toad/DBeaver).Experience leveraging many of the following tools & technologies: Pipeline Pilot, SharePoint Pages/Web Parts/Power Apps, Excel Macros/Visual Basic & Diagramming Tools (Visio/Draw.io).Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and creative solutions applying agile & lean principles to solve complex issues to streamline workflows and minimize risks for errors.Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Teams.Demonstrated experience collaborating with stakeholders and external hardware & software vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science, Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience in developing laboratory solutions in the pharmaceutical industry.Expertise leveraging many of the following tools, languages, & technologies: LIMS Systems/Software, Java/C#, Scripting (JavaScript/Python/Perl), HTML/XLM/JSON, APIs (REST/Soap/Microservices), Jira, Confluence, Eclipse, GitHub/SVN.Prior experience in pharmaceutical laboratory automation, specifically, in the operation of liquid handling systems, storage systems and other automated tube & plate handling instrumentation.Experience working in areas of compound management or research materials logistics.Basic understanding of primary pharmacology assay development and compound screening is a plus.
Physical/Mental Requirements
Position will require working in the lab, operating automated equipment, lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending and the ability to perform mathematical calculations and solve complex technical problems.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $88,300.00 to $142,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share-based long-term incentive program.
