The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this position either with or without reasonable accommodations.SummaryThe Financial Analyst I is an entry-level support position responsible for development and production of financial analysis reports, budget documents, and presentation material. The incumbent prepares clear and meaningful analyses on WMATA’s finances including but not limited to operating revenues and expenses, staffing, and finances forecasting. Performs calculations in support of budget development, assists with analyzing and providing technical support preparing budgets. May provide preliminary monitoring and review of current budget positions. The incumbent works independently under minimum supervision on assigned duties.

Essential FunctionsParticipates in the preparation and justification of the Authority’s budget.Maintains continuing contact with cross-functional stakeholders across the Authority to assess impact of budgetary and financing issues.Utilizes confidential information for the Board Budget Committee hearings to support recommendations to the Board of Directors and to assist in the conduct of research and evaluation of problem areas.Develops confidential budget submissions, reports, surveys, and correspondences which relate to WMATA’s budget and other financial issues as requested by all stakeholders.Monitors real-time performance against budget; identifying and analyzing variations.Under supervised guidance, evaluates budgets, analyzing revenues and expenses.Under supervised guidance, formulates written reports that are factual, objective and conform to financial standards. Prepares reports for next level management review.The essential duties listed are not intended to limit specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
