Senior Accountant – Position DescriptionLocation: Baltimore City (Hybrid)Reports to: Chief Financial OfficerSchedule: Full-time, Monday - FridaysOverview:Are you looking for that unique opportunity where you can make a difference in the lives of the students we serve? If this is you, we encourage you to apply so you can get your journey started with Concentric Educational Solutions.Responsibilities:Oversight of cash and treasury operations and perform daily monitoring, as well as weekly cash reconciliations in QuickBooksRegular review of accounts payable mailbox and coordination of vendor payments and weekly check-runsCollect, review, and reconcile employee credit card receiptsCoordination of the revenue process, including generating, processing, and reconciling customer invoices and payment receiptsEnsure timely and accurate recording of payroll general ledger activityPerform balance sheet reconciliations and analysis related to payroll and benefits accountsRecord and reconcile payroll-related journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting policies and proceduresCollaborate with HR and business leads to gather necessary information and resolve any discrepancies in the payroll general ledgerRecord and reconcile benefits-related journal entries, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits programsReview and analyze benefits expense accounts to ensure accuracy and proper allocation of expensesAssist with accounting month-end close of books on the US GAAP accrual basisInvestigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner in collaboration with relevant stakeholdersWork closely with the benefits broker, and HR team, to obtain necessary data and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to the benefits general ledgerCoordinate with external service providers, such as tax and audit firmsAssist with internal and external audits; provide necessary documentation and explanationsEnsure compliance with applicable accounting policies, procedures, and regulations that govern payroll and benefitsComplete Vendor Applications and work with a third-party service provider to make sure that the company is in good standing with all customer’s business compliance requestsOther duties as assigned by the direct supervisorQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or in a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience3-5 years of experience as a Senior Accountant; public accounting, Big 4, or other CPA firm experience, is preferredAdvanced knowledge of the general ledger, accrual accounting, and the US GAAP accounting principles and practicesStrong attention to detail and ability to complete work with limited supervisionAdvanced knowledge and understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and the ability to perform detailed analysisAdvanced skill in the use of Google Suite, as well as Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)Prior knowledge and experience of working with Quickbooks and ADPAdvanced knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations that govern payroll and benefitsAdvanced verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
