Job Description

General Summary:

The Research Full Stack Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing support of servers, storage systems virtualization, application software, and other healthcare IT technology on the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago network. This position focuses on the end user aspects of this technology.These duties may be performed directly or coordinated with Research Teams, IM Applications teams, external technology vendors and/or service partners. The Research Full Stack Engineer is expected to be self-directed and perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Essential Job Functions:

Area Specific Job Accountabilities:

Implements and maintains converged infrastructure (system hardware, operating systems, virtualization technologies, network and application software) as assigned or in association with application or technology systems projects. The Research Full Stack Engineer will be responsible for one or more of these technology areas:General Microsoft server administration including relative networking and application technical supportMicrosoft Windows server operating system imaging, automation and supportCitrix Application and Desktop virtualizationVMWare Virtualization infrastructureEMC data storage platforms and data protection systemsTCP/IP networking administrationDevelops or customizes software solutions and related services that advance the research mission of the institution, including front-end and back-end technologies.Work with end user sponsors and others to develop program specifications and assess appropriate technologyDevelop solutions using programming and scripting tools for Microsoft, Apple, and Linux based software solutions, e.g. .Net, Python, JavaScript, and other standardsDevelop familiarity and expertise utilizing vendor base API framework, e.g. Epic App Orchard and FIHRDeliver and support custom application solutions for on-premises client/server and/or both the Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS cloud environments.Develop and support applications using IoT, mobile, and other evolving technologies as solution needs indicate.Perform and manage project tasks related to server and client needs as assigned for Research or organizational project tasks. Maintain department standards for client and server systems. Provides consultative services to end users regarding technology or application services and/or client related issues. Serves as liaison to vendors for equipment and software maintenance. Develops and documents procedures covering all aspects of enterprise-wide client/server administration:Monitors and reports on performance for all assigned servers, storage, applications, and technologiesPerforms ongoing capacity and performance planning for all assigned servers, applications, and technologiesIf assigned, assumes on-call responsibility, per the schedule. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of experience OR 8 years of relevant experience, with three (3) plus years of knowledge and experience working with standard development tools, software development skills, and techniques.Experience with relevant programming languages and tools – Microsoft, .Net, C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, SQL, NoSQL, React, jQuery, Cloud DevOps, Angular, PHP, Node.js, Ruby, etc.Modern mobile development skills (e.g., Swift, Flutter) is highly desired.Experience with API and SDK use and development.Ability to work as a team member in a multi-disciplinary team environment.Possesses Best Practice Change Management and Documentation skills.Excellent time and project management skills, customer service and interpersonal skills, system diagnostic and communication (written and oral) are critical for success in this position.Analytical thinking for effective problem determination and correction within the department and in the user community is essential.Experience in information systems/technology within a health care provider organization is desired.Benefit Statement
