Description

The Information Technology Department at McCallie School seeks applicants for a full-time IT Support Specialist. This position reports to the Director of Information Technology and serves as an initial responder who works directly with students and employees to support, diagnose, and resolve incidents and service requests related to all types of desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and A/V technology.

This position relies on excellent customer service and communication skills, works effectively under time and technology constraints, and has the skills to work with a variety of hardware, software, and applications. The successful candidate must be able to work on projects and goals independently and as a member of a team.

This is a 12-month, full-time, on-site position, and it is eligible for full benefits. It is considered exempt under the FLSA.This position is not eligible for remote work, except for emergency situations.

Responsibilities and Duties

Provide customer support with excellent, timely, and effective customer service.Set up, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain school devices including Windows laptops and desktops through Active Directory, Group Policy/PolicyPak, and PDQ; Chromebooks via Google Workspace Administration; and Macs, iPads, and Apple TVs using JAMF.Manage inventory and logistics of student loaner laptops.Perform routine maintenance of computer systems, including updates, patches, and security configurations.Ensure all devices and systems adhere to industry-standard security practices, including implementing security policies, conducting regular audits, and staying updated on the latest security threats and vulnerabilities.Set up, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain HP, Kyocera, and Epson printers/MFPs, Kyocera copiers, and other networked printers.Manage PaperCut print systems and ensure the connectivity and availability of all printing and copying devices, addressing any issues related to device connectivity, print quality, paper jams, scanning issues, etc.Perform hardware lifecycle and maintenance service activities for offices, classrooms, conference rooms, etc.Provide on-site support for designated events outside normal business hours, including some evenings and weekends, at specified and infrequent times.Assist with office and classroom moves, adds, and changes.Provide end-user support for software and hardware, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, docking stations, monitors, peripherals, etc.Install, troubleshoot, and maintain Epson short throw projection systems, including amplifiers, in-ceiling speakers, cabling, wireless connections, etc.Contribute to continuous process and work management improvement by recommending best practices, increasing efficiencies, optimizing workflows, and updating documentation.Work Schedule

Primarily during regular business hours (8AM-5PM), Monday through Friday.Evening and/or weekend event support (3-4 times per year).Emergency support, which may be required at any time.Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

A BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.Working knowledge of common desktop and mobile devices, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Android, iOS), and productivity applications software (i.e., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, etc.).Experience using collaboration and conferencing tools, such as Zoom or Google Meet.Ability to work with customers with varying levels of computer expertise, from beginner to advanced users.Proficient communication skills, including strong writing and documentation skills.Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, to manage multiple priorities and tasks, and to work independently and within a team structure.Ability to independently diagnose and resolve problems, identify areas for improvement both within the department and externally, while adhering to industry and school best practices.Deep understanding of, support for, and desire to live out McCallie's mission for the good of McCallie boys - including both the school's commitment to character development and the ideals of honor, truth, and duty and the school's Christian foundation and Judeo-Christian heritage.Preferred Qualifications

One or more year(s) working with device management systems like JAMF, PDQ, Group Policy/PolicyPak, etc.Experience with backend streaming services used for videos and livestreams/webinars.Experience with Linux administration, including provisioning, configuration, and maintenance.Programming/scripting experience with PowerShell, CMD, bash, etc.Experience working in a school, college, or university IT department.

Physical Requirements

The McCallie School is located on the side of Missionary Ridge. This position will be housed inside Hunter Hall on campus. The work will be done in Hunter Hall and in other locations on campus. Some work is performed at a desk, but the job also requires moving to other locations on campus. Must be able to lift fifty pounds and climb ladders to access devices in the ceiling.
