The Dean of Education and Behavioral Sciences position is a 12-month administrative role that encompasses both leadership and managerial responsibilities. This role assumes primary responsibility and oversight of personnel, activities, budgets, and facilities in the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences, which includes the departments of Educational Foundations and Leadership, Counseling and Psychology, and Sociology.Examples of Work Performed
The responsibilities of the Dean of Education and Behavioral Sciences include but are not limited to:Provide leadership and direction for the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences.Assume primary responsibility for functions related to academic accreditation and communication with external agencies.Oversee the development and implementation of academic programs and curricula.Champion graduate programs, focusing on new student recruitment, support, and completion.Foster a culture of research, scholarship, and creative activity among faculty and students.Promote student success and retention through effective advising, mentoring, and support services.Manage the School’s budget and resources effectively, including enrollment management and faculty/staff management.Advocate for the School within the college and the broader community.Represent the school in administrative and academic matters.Manage technology, pedagogy, modes of delivery, and student learning paths to advance degree completion and retention.Lead and inspire faculty and staff in employment recommendations, evaluations, and professional development.Manage student, staff, and faculty relation issues and resolve conflicts productively.Participate in and/or lead other tasks as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate and/or administrative leadership experience in education, behavioral sciences, or a related field.Experience with specialized accreditation and facilitation of program assessment.Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to foster strategic partnerships with regional stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated record of teaching, scholarship, or creative activities in higher education.Experience with Education and Behavioral Sciences accreditation (CAEP, CACREP) and online/distance education programs preferred.Salary Information
