Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. Your leadership will help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

We are looking for a Datacenter Engineering Principal Design Manager, Americas who will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield and retrofit engineering/design projects. In this position, you will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the Datacenter building, power, cooling, telecom, and controls infrastructure to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap for the Americas.

You will also be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs including the development of innovative technology and advanced concepts from Site Due Diligence through design development, permitting, construction, and the turnover to Operations. In this role, you will provide design management, technical direction, decision-making, and overall leadership for our datacenter designs. As the Datacenter Engineering Principal Design Manager, Americas you will oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacenter design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects. You will also engage with key MS stakeholder groups within Microsoft as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering.

Responsibilities

Creates relationships across technical and non-technical groups to drive orchestration efforts for the development and implementation process of multiple areas for large and highly complex cross-functional projects with internal teams and external partners (including architects, engineers, and designers). Influences leadership on objectives.Collaborates and coordinates across the business to ensure alignment and gain buy-in on management, including tradeoffs, adjustments, and improvements as feasible.Determines and leads large process improvements to quickly scope insights. Leads and drives alignment between stakeholders, senior leadership, and the goals and strategy of Microsoft. Defines solution options and proposed solution roadmap across multiple feature areas within multiple stages.Tracks, coordinates, and communicates end-to-end project schedules for multiple areas across divisional boundaries. Establishes and monitors processes, and drives accountability with stakeholders for following the established schedule and processes.Embody our culture and values.Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product developmentOR equivalent experience.3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Other Requirements

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, product development, and/or construction for mission critical or high-tech industryOR equivalent experience.8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.5+ years experience managing a team.Proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and engineering around datacenter design.
