Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The Microsoft portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. Responsibilities

The Datacenter Engineering Senior Site Due Diligence (SDD) Design Manager will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield and brownfield sites with a focus on site due diligence and site selection. This position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the datacenter building including master planning, feasibility studies, and infrastructure planning to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap for the Americas.

The Datacenter Senior SDD Design Manager will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs including the development of innovative technology and advanced concepts in Site Due Diligence to be used as the basis for future design. This role will provide design management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadership for our site due diligence (SDD) projects. To be successful in this role the candidate will oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent SDD projects with a focus on scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects. The Datacenter Senior SDD Design Manager will engage with key Microsoft stakeholder groups within Microsoft as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering. Coordinate a team of architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product developmentOR equivalent experience.2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction engineeringMinimum of 10 years of experience in project management, engineering, equipment and/or construction for mission critical or high-tech industry.Have effective communication, organization, and leadership skills.Possess an elevated level of proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and engineering with a primary focus on datacenter design.Must be able to work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast-paced environment and do so with an even temperament.Must be a person of integrity, be methodical, detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
