University of Iowa Health Care presents an opportunity for an experienced nurse leader to join our team. We are seeking a full time Assistant Nurse Manager for Main Operating Room Team 9. The Assistant Nurse Manager will provide managerial and clinical leadership to assure that all staff provide safe clinical care and have the education, methods and resources to accomplish their performance objectives with additional responsibilities managing the nursing assistant and weekend option team.Key areas of responsibility include:Human Resources ManagementPlanning and Goal ManagementEducation ProgramsCollaboration and Embracing DiversityPositive Impact/Achieving ResultsClinical Service/Department Operations ManagementSchedule:

hours to be determined by department based on needs, rotating shifts possible, holiday and weekend coverage based on unit needs.Location:

University CampusRotations:

Rotating shifts Monday - Friday, Weekends, holidays, on-call as staffing needs arise. One week administrative call 2-3/year.Benefits Highlights:

Relocation Assistance available to qualified applicants.Required Qualifications:A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is requiredCurrent license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hireOne to three years of progressing leadership responsibilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skillsProficiency with computer software applications and skill in leadership/managementDemonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughnessCollaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departmentsDemonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient educationOne to three years scrubbing and circulating experience in the Operating RoomProfessional certification in nursing field (example: CNOR) required as soon as able to sit for the examDesired Qualifications:Leadership and/or management experienceExperience working in a large academic medical centerExperience working in a union environmentProfessional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so.Please attach a resume as part of the application process.
