Under the direction of the Community Programs Director, the Youth & Teen Center Program Leader is responsible for developing and facilitating academic support and Social Emotional Learning to program and sports participants, and strengthening the programs’ connection with students, families, and community partners. As a team player, the Youth & Teen Center Program Leader builds and maintains strong, productive relationships with students, school staff, parents, the YMCA, and community members of Bayview. They should be adept at working in a fast-paced environment with students of color and thinking fast on their feet.Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 21 years of age1-2 years’ experience working with youthExperience working with youth after school or enrichment programmingMust be available Monday – Friday, 40 hours per weekKnowledge of San Francisco community health and wellness servicesDemonstrated experience recruiting, engaging, and serving parents, caregivers, and youthUnderstanding of community- and school-based programming based upon Youth Development Practices & Principles, the Common Core State Standards, and Restorative PracticesExperience working in communities of color with low-income populationsAble to effectively communicate to individuals and groups, both orally and in writingCourteous, professional, and able to reason logicallyDetail-oriented and well-organizedAble to establish and meet deadlinesProven ability to work with people from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, and sexual orientation backgroundsPassion for developing and sustaining quality services for youth and families, and a desire to learn and understand the needs of YMCA’s constituents, staff, and partnersYMCA approved CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and YMCA Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire dateFingerprint background check clearancePreferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in related fieldBi-Lingual skills in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or TagalogKnowledge of Arts, Dance, Drama, or SportsPassion for social justice and knowledge of the Bayview Hunters Point community, its residents, and a desire to make a differenceAll employees working with the YMCA are considered to have supervisory or disciplinary action relationship over minors. Job offers are conditional and contingent upon background clearance.
