The Office of Public Affairs and Communications is responsible for providing strategic communications support for UC Santa Barbara, working with both internal and external audiences.Brief Summary of Job Duties:

The Multimedia Producer serves as a member of the Office of Public Affairs and Communications (OPAC). The Multimedia Producer is independently responsible for producing and editing content that highlights the mission of UC Santa Barbara and the work and research of its faculty, staff, and students. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Multimedia Producer will work closely with OPAC and University colleagues to develop content for multiple media and platforms.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training7-9 years of demonstrated experience in resizing, editing, color-correcting and fully retouching and manipulating images using Lightroom, Bridge and/or Photoshop.7-9 years professional photography experience.4-6 years studio photography experience.Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education and/or health sciences.Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short-term strategic communications plans.Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and/or broad general audiences.Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills.Preferred Qualifications:4-6 years of experience providing photography services in a university setting.Special Conditions of Employment:Satisfactory criminal history background checkUCSB is a Tobacco-Free environmentJob Functions and Percentages of Time:80% Multi-Media ProductionConceptualizes, executes and produces multimedia content designed to enhance the public's understanding and appreciation of campus-wide activities.In relation to campus Photo Services, takes and delivers professional level photographs.Partners with marketing & editorial teams to plan and execute photography and/or film shoots.Determines shoot locations, lighting requirements and sets up lens and camera settings.Interacts with and organizes large groups of people for group photos.Explores new multimedia approaches, formats, and channels.Responsible for professional level post-processing of images.Delivers media files in agreed-upon formats and storage locations.Works closely with colleagues to understand communication priorities.Ensures production of high-quality output that effectively delivers the desired message.10% Digital Asset LibraryUploads photos and corresponding metadata to digital asset library.Organizes library utilizing folder structures and keyword strategies.Periodically reviews library to remove outdated photos.10% Business AdministrationTracks campus projects, time spent, and deliverables.Enters recharges into departmental database.Ensures photo release forms are signed and saved.Manages equipment inventory and makes recommendations.Maintains rate card and promotes services across campus.Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Statement:
