The Office of Budget & Planning provides campus management with the necessary information and analysis to make decisions regarding the most effective allocation and use of campus resources.Brief Summary of Job Duties:

The Associate Director, under the Budget Director's guidance, will lead annual budget cycle processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and policies. Provides financial analysis and guidance to operating divisions, presenting recommendations to senior management. Responsibilities entail providing support and guidance to leadership, ensuring effective management of financial resources and budgetary processes; offering insights into resource allocation strategies and analytical support.The Associate Director will develop and implement analytic budgeting systems, evaluate performance trends and drivers of variance, and oversee budget requests. Ensure compliance with standards and regulations, while adapting to policies as needed. Utilize analytic models to explore performance scenarios and identify efficiencies. Enhance digital presence and communication channels for the Budget Office. Review and approve budget changes, plan resource strategies, and leverage technological tools for data analysis and presentation. Collaborate with the Budget Director on training initiatives and campus-wide support.Required Qualifications:Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training7-9 years Professional business experience managing or leading sophisticated budget processes within large organizations7-9 years Strong practical and technical experience in financial resource allocations, financial modelling and analysis4-6 years Experience implementing budget applications within a large university or other large organizationPreferred Qualifications:Proficient knowledge of and experience in strategic financial and budget managementAnalytical and conceptual skills applied to the resolution of complex problems with ability to identify key issues in complex situations, evaluate options, initiate strategies for resolution, measure progress, and apply course correction as necessaryCPA, CFA, FPAC or similarSpecial Conditions of Employment:Satisfactory completion of a criminal history background checkUCSB is a Tobacco-Free environmentJob Functions and Percentages of Time:50% Annual Budget Administration - Key contributor in the creation, maintenance and evolution of the annual budget process. Leads the organization-wide annual planning and budget process, providing transparent processes and clarifying organization priorities and strategic objectives.20% Resource Management - Responsible for management of campus provisions from the initial allocation of resources through the year-end closing steps.20% Campus-wide Analytical Support - Independently initiates and designs complex analytical reports and statistical charts for senior administrators in support of the campus mission of research, academic and support functions.10% Training and Support - Develops and maintains training resources for the campus community that promotes financial literacy, active budget management and improved resource utilization.UC Vaccination Programs Policy - With Interim Revisions:
