Job DescriptionSUMMARY
The Project Accountant reports to the CFO and is a key member of the accounting department that will collaborate with project controls, contracts and proposals in meeting MELE’s goals. Responsible for the project module, the Project Accountant will review contract awards to determine the project and project labor structure and setup for entry and will maintain the system as needed. They will provide project financial analysis and oversight of the project budgeting process. Supporting the accounting department with adjusting journal entries, revenue recognition, reconciliations, cross-training for transactional backup support and compliance filings will be key.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Project, Project Labor (PLC) setup and maintenance in Costpoint
Review and understand contract awards and modifications for accounting execution and entry
Project analysis, monitoring, and reporting across Senior Staff
Project liaison between accounting, project controls, contracts, and proposals
Project budgeting entry, oversight and costing support
GSA IFF, DCAA ICC and Forward Pricing and other compliance filings
Project Based Commission Calculations and Reporting
Assist in researching and resolving Costpoint system issues or improvements
Assist in preparing final monthly financial packages and analysis for CFO
Backup support for labor distribution and billing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS Degree in Accounting or related field
Minimum 4 years cost accounting experience
Working Knowledge of GAAP
Deltek Costpoint (Project Module) or similar project-based ERP experience
Understanding of contract types as it relates to billing and revenue
Intermediate Excel Skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant government contracting experience
Hands-on financial statement preparation and analysis
Advanced Excel Skills
Professional communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
Self starter that requires minimal supervision
