The General Manager (GM) will receive policy direction from the Board of Directors and shall be responsible for implementing the Board’s policies. The GM serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the District, accountable for enforcement of all District, local, state, and federal codes and regulations, financial activities, and the efficient and economical performance of the District’s operations.
The General Manager (GM) will be an experienced and service-oriented professional possessing outstanding management, operational, and technical skills. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with staff, the Board of Directors, community partners, rate payers, and the public. Successful candidates will have demonstrated proven leadership in directing a workforce including staff functions, operating and maintenance departments as well as a strong understanding of wastewater treatment and collection systems. A successful GM will demonstrate financial acumen and have proven experience developing and implementing strategic business goals and an ability to identify opportunities for increased efficiencies while maintaining a high level of customer service. Experience with and interest in interfacing with stakeholders shall be key along with a strong understanding of organization structures that include a Board of Directors, staff, partner roles, and relationships.
Education and ExperienceThe ideal candidate will possess no less than ten (10) years of increasingly responsible management or administrative experience in a municipal or other public agency setting and experience working with an elected Board of Directors. A Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, public policy, engineering, finance, or a related field is expected. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.
