If you are goal-oriented, dedicated, proactive, and enjoy a customer-centric culture, we would be delighted to get to know you better.Position SummaryThe Assistant Controller is responsible for the day-to-day management of the general accounting and the accounts payable groups. The Assistant Controller will report to the Corporate Controller.Job ResponsibilitiesManage the general accounting group with a staff of 1-2. Review balance sheet account reconciliations including Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Deferred Accounts, Accruals, Inventory, Tax.Manage the Accounts Payable Department, staff of 5 to include the Manager and 4 direct reports. Software includes Certify, Corridor, Onbase, and Great Plains. Work with inventory, purchase orders and 3-way match. The department processes 600 checks, 300 ACH, and 50 Wire payments per week. Review of AP ledger balances.Manage the banking functions for multiple entities. Participate in cash management and forecasting. Coordinate the timing of payments. Monitor credit card availability and payments. Review and release wires, check runs, and ACH payments. Perform the bank administrator role providing access and limits to users.Manage the monthly general ledger close process.Reconcile intercompany accounts for multiple companies.Mentor and coach staff. Re-distribute workload as necessary for team members so that group goals are accomplished, and the work is complete and accurate.Coordinate the year-end Audit requests by preparing and reviewing schedules/documents prepared by others.Participate in the year-end physical inventory process, and the calculation of the inventory reserve balance.Create and document accounting policies and standard operating procedures.Review and follow up on AR aged balances with employees.Other duties assigned.Job RequirementsAbility to exercise sound judgment and solve practical business problems in a prompt manner and under deadlines.Strong technical ability and customer-facing financial presentation skills. Ability to give a business explanation with numbers.Strong analytical and financial reporting understanding and skills.Quick learner and capable of adding to analytical/technical skills on a continuous basis.Open thinker willing to receive feedback for consistent improvement and ongoing employee development.Computer Skills – MS Outlook, Office, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and ability to learn Clay Lacy Software including Corridor, EPOS, Great Plains, Onbase and Vena Reporting systems. Experience with implementation and testing of new accounting systems is a plus.Strong organizational change agent.Ability to secure respect and credibility with team members, peers, leadership team, and vendors.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Skill in developing new policies and procedures.Employee development and performance management skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of employees.Strategic thinker, capable of making key decisions quickly.Highly responsible, willing to “OWN” the process/project and outcome.Required EducationBachelor’s DegreeRequired ExperienceMinimum of 7 years of relevant experience in accounting, and financial reporting. Cost Accounting is a plus.
