Section 508 Accessibility Specialist - Senior

HarmonyTech, Inc. is looking for a well-rounded individual with Section 508 Accessibility and demonstrated experience in remediation of video, audio and web content to assist with the development of compliant, accessible products to support and execute efforts for a federal client. The ideal candidate will have experience working on communications for federal agencies.

The work shall be performed at HarmonyTech’s Fairfax VA location and/or client’s location, in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:Produce or assess digital instructional materials that adhere to accessibility standards. Identify and resolve accessibility barriers to provide accessible materials and websites. Support real-time and postproduction captioning services to provide accessibility.Evaluate the accessibility of instructional technology devices and software and make recommendations concerning best practices.Interpret and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws as they apply to disability.Provide accessibility analysis, documentation, and remediation of digital learning experiences.Implement accessibility and disability standards, regulations, and best practices including WCAG 2.0, Section 508, WAI-ARIA, UAAG and ATAG.Develop and review documents compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Presidential Plain Writing Act of 2010, and U.S. Copyright law.Gather and organize information to resolve problems and redefine processes and procedures.Collaborate with various levels of government personnel and conduct onsite observations to determine the methods, equipment, and resources for product development.Develop solutions or alternative practices and recommend new systems, procedures, or processes.Review and edit correspondence, curriculum, and programmatic documents. Provide recommendations to management through presentations or written reports and confer with managers to ensure changes are effective.Scan all current and future documents, web content, and applications, to make sure they are 508 compliant randomly and when requested.Serve as consultant across divisions within the agency.Requirements:

At least ten (10) years of professional work experience as IT system accessibility tester/consultant required.Experience in ensuring 508 compliance for a wide range of products including outreach multimedia products, presentation briefing decks, and informational graphics is a must.Demonstrated experience in Section 508 compliance assessment, design, testing, and remediation of audio, video, and multimedia content and documents.In addition to Section 508 standards, knowledge of and experience in working with standards such as WCAG 2.0, WAI-ARIA, UAAG, and ATAG is a must.Experience with Microsoft Office and built-in accessibility tools.Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.Expertise in one or more accessibility tools such as WAVE, CCA, and Accessibility Insights is a plus.Certifications such as Accessible Document Specialist (ADS) or Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) is a plus.Proven experience in managing multiple accessibility compliance projects and meeting deadlines.Ability to get up to speed quickly, desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.US citizenship or permanent residence status required.Education:
