Accountant I (Hybrid)

DescriptionPerform moderately complex professional accounting work in the recording and reporting of financial transactions. Prepare financial statements, regulatory filings, and perform analyses.Essential FunctionsEnsure the timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger for each entityPrepare work papers, financial statements, and various reports for internal accounting and auditingResearch and analyze fluctuations between current financial results compared to prior year, prior month, and budgeted amountsWork with independent auditors and inter-company auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirementsCreate and disseminate quarterly and annual statements including the conversion from GAAP accounting to statutory accountingRecommend changes in accounting systems and proceduresIn collaboration with business partners assist with budget activity, proper expenditure coding, document preparation, and other accounting-related activitiesRequirementsJob SpecificationTypically has the following skills or abilities:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field or equivalent experience2+ years experience in an accounting environment2+ years using accounting and auditing principles and practices, including GAAP and statutory accountingExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient in spreadsheet applicationsClean credit history as reported by credit reportRegularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of job duties
