UIC has over 300,000 alumni, and is one of the largest employers in the city of Chicago.Description:Position SummaryThe Department of Pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine is seeking a full-time academic Clinical Chemist to join our exceptional faculty and direct the Laboratory Section of Clinical Chemistry and Point of Care Testing. This is an open-rank faculty position. Rank and tenure will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualifications, and funding.The Department of Pathology includes the divisions of Anatomic Pathology, Transdisciplinary Pathology Research and Clinical Pathology which includes Clinical Chemistry, Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine, Hematopathology, HLA, Clinical Microbiology, Molecular Diagnostics and Genomic clinical laboratories. Faculty expertise supports strong clinical programs at UI Health in solid organ transplant, bone marrow transplant, neurology, gastroenterology, hematology and oncology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics and more. Opportunities exist to participate and collaborate on clinical research. Duties & ResponsibilitiesIn addition to providing medical education and diagnostic services for Clinical Chemistry and Point of Care Testing, the successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a program in translational research at UIC.Fellowship training and significant experience in Clinical Chemistry is required for this position. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of scholarly achievement.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.Qualifications:Minimum QualificationsCandidates for this position must have a PhD, MD or DO degree. PhD degree holding candidates must possess board certification in Clinical Chemistry from the American Board of Clinical Chemistry.
