Position SummaryReporting to the President of the University, the Director of Human Resources will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with the University’s Mission and Foundational Principles.The Director of Human Resources should be an exemplar of employee commitment to our distinctive Christian mission as demonstrated by adherence to our Statement of Faith, Community Agreement, and church affiliation.The Director oversees the daily workflow of the department, including the University’s recruitment and onboarding processes, compensation and benefit programs, employee development, and performance management.In addition, the Director serves as a collaborative partner to all colleagues who manage and supervise personnel and provides support and coaching to management on matters relating to employee performance and experience.Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

Supports and maintains the University’s Christian mission in hiring and in accountability to our Statement of Faith and our Community Agreement.Serves on the President’s Cabinet and advises the President on general policies and procedures for employee compensation.Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to the President’s Cabinet.Provides oversight of all HR services including, recruitment; payroll processing; benefits administration, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance management; recognition and morale; training and development; and policy development and implementation.Supervises the Human Resources Coordinator, Human Resources Generalist and Payroll Specialist; and oversees and maintains departmental budget.Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.Oversees and monitors regulatory compliance in relevant areas including but not limited to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and worker’s compensation, unemployment and employment practices.Maintains a working knowledge of federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resource management. Identifies trends and modifies operational procedures to conform to law/regulation changes.Publishes and maintains the Employee Handbook(s) and Human Resources documents and oversees the maintenance of the University’s HRIS database (Jenzabar), department files, and personnel records.Reviews and approves all requests for staff position posting for replacement and new positions. Employs strategic placement of external postings to encourage diversity and missional alignment of candidates.Provides support for all new hires by providing compensation benchmarking data to hiring managers.Provides guidance and resources to supervisors in addressing performance, work related behavior issues, disciplinary actions and procedures.Serves as the university’s Title IX Coordinator.Receives and facilitates resolution of grievances and investigates complaints regarding university or government concerns and / or compliance.Serves as an ex officio member of Staff Council and is the Cabinet liaison to the Staff Council; oversees annual Staff Council elections.Collaborates and works effectively with diverse constituencies including staff, administration, faculty and students and other stakeholders for the purpose of enhancing Human Resources processes and overall employment experience.Fulfills other duties as assigned.Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.At least five years of human resource management experience required; previous experience/knowledge of ADP Workforce Now, preferredSHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
