Job Summary

The Institutional Data Analytics + Assessment office is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Governance Analyst to join our data governance team. Working closely with the Institutional Data Governance Program Lead, the Data Governance Analyst will play a crucial role in managing data policies, processes, and documentation. Working with a collaborative team and partnering with departments across Purdue University, this position provides a unique opportunity to work with a variety of enterprise data projects.

Responsibilities:

Training Materials and Documentation:

Develop comprehensive training materials related to data policies, best practices, and university data projects and initiatives.Create and maintain clear, accessible documentation on data governance processes, standards, and guidelines including the work of the Executive Data Council and subcommittees.

Collaboration and Communication:

Participate in data governance committees and working groups.Collaborate with technical leads to align data objectives and foster a cohesive data strategy.Document project workflows, timelines, milestones, and outcomes.

Metadata Management:

Assist technical leads in writing and maintaining metadata definitions and specifications for university data assets.Maintain an inventory of university data systems, including databases, applications, and data repositories.Document system architecture, data flows, and data lineage.

Policy Compliance:

Stay informed about relevant policies, regulations, and industry best practices (e.g., FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA).Collaborate with legal counsel and data stewards to align our data governance practices with federal policies and regulations.Advise stakeholders on policy implications and assist in implementing necessary changes.Track and manage data sharing agreements with office partners.Ensure compliance with privacy requirements in data sharing agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).

Bachelor's degree.2-3 years of experience in a related field.Demonstrated ability working with cross-organizational leadershipProject management experience including planning, execution, and trackingExperience working with data governance and organizational policyExperience working in a university settingFamiliarity with federal and state regulations (i.e. FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA)Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detailDemonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independentlyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to simplify complex concepts and deliver effective messages to a variety of data usersExperience writing documentation and procedures addressing user needsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projectsAbility to work effectively with diverse stakeholdersFamiliarity with databases and data cataloguing toolsAdditional Information:
