In this role, you will oversee and manage the company’s legal matters related to data privacy, security, and technology contracts. You will ensure compliance with all relevant privacy regulations and expertly negotiate technology-related agreements to safeguard the company’s interests. Acting as a strategic advisor to various departments, including technology and e-commerce, you will provide essential guidance on data protection and technology usage. Every day, you will strengthen Vuori’s core value of maintaining great relationships with its consumers and employees by ensuring responsible governance of their personal information and upholding their data privacy rights.Qualifications
What you'll get to do:Partner with the VP, Associate General Counsel- Commercial & Privacy to develop, evolve and scale Vuori’s Privacy Program.Develop the strategic framework and approach for technology-related projects and contractsDraft, review, negotiate, and complete technology agreements and related documents.Manage risks, mitigation strategies, regulatory and contractual compliance, and assist with operational matters.Define, develop, maintain, and implement policies and processes for effective privacy practices.In collaboration with Vuori’s Privacy Manger, evaluate projects involving personal data, conduct privacy impact assessments, and develop risk mitigation strategies.Handle escalations of Data Subject Access Requests and address fulfillment challenges with stakeholders.Identify and operationalize requirements of applicable data protection laws and regulations.Train and guide business teams on the use of privacy impact assessments (PIA’s), Data Protection Addenda and similar templates, relevant legal issues, processes, and good contracting practicesCoordinate with outside counsel in EU, UK, and China for proper data processing and transfer and overall compliance with relevant laws.Collaborate with Information Security to ensure alignment between security and privacy compliance programs.Develop and provide privacy training to the workforce in collaboration with the Privacy Manager.Maintain current knowledge of applicable global, federal, and state privacy laws and accreditation standards.Collaborate with security and incident response team members on potential incidents related to personal information.Assist in other duties as needed and directed.Who you are:J.D. and member of the bar in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction.Experience working in the retail industry preferred.5+ years of relevant legal experience, including Privacy & Digital.Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, remain flexible, manage expectations, anticipate needs, and respond to changing demands in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Ability to develop and maintain effective, professional, and collaborative relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders at all levels.Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and listening skills, problem-solving abilities, and judgment, including determining when issues should be escalated.Comfortable facing ambiguity and taking initiative to identify solutions.Effective communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues.Team player with a positive attitude, self-confidence, and enthusiasm.Independent, self-motivated, professional, and proactive with a strong work ethic and sense of accountability.Intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn and develop new skills.Act with the highest level of character and personal integrity, demonstrating professionalism with respect to confidential matters.History of acquiring knowledge and expertise in new laws, dynamic legal landscapes, and unfamiliar software, systems, and technology with minimal instruction or training.CIPP, CPIM, CIPP/T, or other privacy or cybersecurity certifications preferred but not required.Strong technological skills, including experience with managing privacy organization and workflow tools.Additional Information
