Truman Medical Centers/University Health (TMC/UH) .Job OverviewUniversity of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKCSOM) seeks the next Chair for the Department of Surgery, responsible for developing strategies to advance the Department’s clinical, research, education, and diversity missions. The Department is an American College of Surgeons-verified Level 1 Trauma Center.The next Chair will serve as a visible, committed, and inspiring leader, providing strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the Department of Surgery with responsibility for research, education, and clinical missions. The Chair will build on the success of prior leadership while defining the future culture of the Department, leveraging the talents of a diverse group of faculty members, residents, staff, and students.The successful candidate will be a visionary surgeon with administrative leadership and faculty management experience, in addition to a demonstrated track record of achievement commensurate with appointment to the faculty at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the UMKC SOM. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated exemplary basic science and/or clinical research and academic achievements, strategic leadership ability, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and active engagement in the field of surgery on a national level.Working at University Health is about making a difference.
