From the point of initial contact, through graduation and beyond, we seek to engage in the right conversations and support to ensure students' career success. The Director is charged with developing, leading, executing, and overseeing the university’s comprehensive career services program which may encompass career guidance, job search assistance (resume writing, cover letter writing, interviewing skills, identifying job leads, using the internet and social media, etc.), internship assistance, and other areas related to career services for current students and alumni. The Director is responsible for implementing, expanding, and providing ongoing support for University-level efforts that enhance the career service experience. The position reports to the Vice Provost and Chief Student Success, Equity, and Inclusion Officer and will interface with all divisions and collaborate with alumni engagement. The Director will represent the university internally and externally. The individual in this position will need to cultivate and maintain strong professional relationships with key personnel in all university areas.Requirements:Education: Minimum possession of Master’s degree in an academic or professional discipline.Required Experience:A minimum of three to five years’ experience in higher education and experience in career services and or development.ORCustomer service leadership experience and a minimum of three years in higher education areas outlined above.ANDExperience developing and implementing comprehensive career service programs to enhance the student experience in an
online environment
.Knowledge of metrics in support of the development and evaluation of career initiatives.Examples of Work:-Develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive career strategies to improve the student experience from inquiry to graduation and beyond-Develop assessment and evaluation criteria to ensure program success in collaboration with the Director of Assessment. Measurable outcomes include and improved employment rates and graduate satisfaction-Collaborate with university partners, including Alumni Engagement, Graduate Admissions, and Strategic Partnerships to coordinate intentional strategies-Propose additional resources needed to support studentsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:-Strong organizational, strategic and problem-solving skills-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.-Ability to prepare clear reports and studies that include findings and recommendations.-Ability to represent the University at conferences, seminars, or meetings.-Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and assignments.-Ability to acquire basic knowledge of the university philosophy, goal, and organization.-Ability to acquire basic knowledge of the higher education system and the function of institutions of higher learning.-Ability to utilize data in the evaluation of initiatives.-Demonstrated background establishes cooperative working relationships and coordinates with other offices or organizations that impact or relate to the work of the section(s) and program or unit.-Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with supervisors and staff.*TESU strives to offer a flexible work environment while balancing the operational needs of the University.
