Position: GIS Technician (TWO POSITIONS)

Customer/Work Location: Fort Liberty, NC

Position is contingent upon contract award.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000

Description:

The GIS Technician will be responsible for performing data collection, basic geospatial analysis, spatial data updates/creation, and data validation to ensure GIS records adhere to Army Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) and Army Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs). Responsible for developing standard and dynamic data-driven maps to support customer requirements, providing technical reports, assisting in the management of ArcGIS Portal, and field data collection efforts as needed.

Duties:

Providing technical operations for management and updates of the GIS enterprise database.The GIS Technician reviews, analyzes, and provides detailed, complete, and accurate data, using knowledge of the HQDA business system requirements, GIS SDSFIE, and GIS QAPs.Assists with developing best practices to address customer needs for managing and updating geospatial data to meet specified requirements.Creating and maintaining standard cartographic maps for printing and ArcGIS Portal.Creating custom topographic maps for projects and customer requests.Reviewing GIS policies, regulations, and guidance to improve standard workflow processes for managing and updating geospatial and real property records to comply with latest guidance.Providing input and recommendations to improve GIS data integrity and data relationships between GIS and HQDA property systems of record.Converting CADD and other geospatial data to SDSFIE GIS format for inclusion in the enterprise GIS database.Collecting field data using GPS, camera, and other tools to capture, validate, or update GIS data.

Proficiency:

Candidates must be able to perform and demonstrate experience using ArcGIS products for the creation and management of highly accurate geospatial data and map deliverables. Candidates must be able to:

Demonstrate proficiency with ArcGIS Pro using advance tools or extensions to create and maintain an enterprise GIS databaseDemonstrate knowledge and experience working with ArcGIS PortalPerform basic spatial analysis and reporting using SQL query statements to extract or join tabular data to GIS data.Demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookDemonstrate knowledge of the SDSFIE data model and standards.Provide examples of strong cartographic skills and writing.Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in GIS or related field with a minimum of 3 years' experience utilizing geospatial software and applications: ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Portal. Must be familiar with SDSFIE or similar standardized spatial data standards.

Per Government contracting requirements, the candidate must be able to clearly speak, read, and write in the English language, be a US citizen, and pass and maintain a National Agency Check Investigation.
