Your Role
The CalPERS Account Management team provides strategic oversight, consultative support, and superior service to CalPERS and the employer groups (State of California, Public Agencies, and School Districts) participating in their health benefits program. The Manager, CalPERS Account - Non Sales will report to the Director, CalPERS Account Management. In this role you will provide effective leadership and direction to the CalPERS Account Management team and will be accountable for both short-term and long-term CalPERS programs and service objectives. As the Manager, CalPERS Account - Non Sales you are responsible for providing end-to-end oversight of the account and team. You will be a strategic advisor and provide consultative client management through developing internal and external relationships and understanding of the client business to identify service needs, plan service delivery and drive use of proactive service and support. You will collaborate with the CalPERS Account Management team, cross-functional internal business partners, and CalPERS staff to ensure quality service and operational performance within the parameters of program and delivery standards.
Your Work
In this role, you will:Be responsible for and accountable for the short-term and long-term CalPERS programs and service objectivesEstablish and facilitate effective partnerships and consultative relationship with CalPERS and key stakeholders to expand opportunities for retention and growth including presentation assistance, education and training, and gathering competitive market informationBe responsible for retaining, providing service to, and growing accountsNegotiate and communicate benefits, reports claims costs and plan performanceBe responsible for the retention and growth of a group of major accountsManage the overall client relationship with a commitment to superior serviceBe responsible for account management team staff (i.e. involvement with compensation, promotions, performance reviews, staffing needs, and disciplinary matters) in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable lawsApply initiative and independent judgment to resolve complex problemsFoster a commitment of continuous self-improvement and team developmentAct with a high level of integrity and to be emblematic of the Blue Shield mission and valuesQualifications
Your Knowledge and Experience
Typically, requires a college degree or equivalent experience and minimum 7 years prior relevant experience, including 3 years of management experience gained as a team leader, supervisor or project/program managerRequires Health Plan operational knowledge and experience; and experience managing relationships with external entitiesRequires excellent verbal and written communication, including an ability to communicate and present effectively to a variety of audiencesRequires an active Life Agent License with California Department of Insurance: or the ability to obtain within the first 90 daysExperience with large, multi-site and government accounts (e.g. CalPERS, Federal Employee Program, etc.) with different types of funding arrangements, including but not limited to HMO, PPO, ASO, contract and underwriting/rating knowledge desiredStrong familiarity with the competitive market, healthcare economics, medical practices, and provider/alternative delivery systems desiredStrategic thinker who has an eye for detail, is organized, and can manage multiple deliverables simultaneously desiredPay Range:
The pay range for this role is: $109,120.00 to $163,680.00 for California.
