The Department of Neurology at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is seeking physician-scientists with basic and translational research interests to join a multidisciplinary team interested in developing and applying bench research or neuroimaging technologies to the study of Parkinson's disease or other neurodegenerative disorders. The position is tenure-eligible and successful candidates will be appointed at either assistant or associate professor level and will receive space and startup funds commensurate with experience and achievement.Competitive candidates will lead a robust basic or translational research program and will serve as mentors to research and clinical trainees from affiliate institutional departments. As such, appointees must have experience conducting bench, clinical or translational or neuroimaging research, have a track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and demonstrate success securing extramural funding including current funding (this may be a K award). Exceptional opportunities exist to collaborate with faculty from the Departments of Neurobiology & Behavior, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, among other departments across the health science and undergraduate campuses.Applicants with clinical training in adult or child neurology will be appointed in the relevant clinical division and will provide clinical coverage in inpatient and outpatient services. They will also contribute to the educational mission by mentoring research trainees and teaching and supervising medical students, residents, and fellows.Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D., Ph.D. degrees (or foreign equivalent). Research experience and accomplishments in either basic, translational, or clinical research. Board certification in neurology by the ABPN and hold or be eligible for medical licensure in New York. Possess a record of publication in peer-reviewed journals. Demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills and the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.Preferred Qualifications:

Evidence of success competing for extramural, federal funding. Evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding, managing a basic research laboratory, or leading clinical trials.Application Instructions
