As a technical leader in clinical applications, the Laboratory Informatics Specialist applies advanced professional concepts and extensive industry knowledge to lead and/or work on medium to large projects of broad scope and complexity. The position performs all duties under the general supervision of the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Supervisor and Clinical Laboratory Administrative Director in a manner that denotes the team concept and reflects the UCSF and ZSFG mission, vision, and values. The work location may be hybrid or full remote. This is a limited position and will end on 12/31/24, defined date.Department Description

The UCSF Clinical Laboratory (CL) at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) provides laboratory testing services for inpatients and outpatients of ZSFG, Laguna Honda Hospital, District Health Centers, and other facilities under the auspices of the San Francisco Public Health Department.Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in science, health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training. Broadly encompassing or highly in-depth knowledge of 1-2 areas of focus in clinical applications specialty area(s). Knowledge of operations, systems and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation. Ability to apply advanced problem-resolution skills to highly complex issues, quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner. Advanced interpersonal communication skills to effectively train, support, and collaborate productively with clinical users and key stakeholders at all professional and technical levels. Advanced organizational and project management skills, and ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule. Advanced written and verbal communications skills, to convey highly-technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical users and staff in a specific, clear, and concise manner. Advanced analytical skills and expertise in documentation and reporting, with the ability to apply metrics, plan and implement testing systems, collect and analyze performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses for management use. Advanced ability to serve as a technical leader and information resource, and to work collaboratively with key personnel and management, providing guidance and recommendations on systems, improvements, upgrades, and industry advances and trends.Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 6 years of Clinical Lab Scientist experience in a hospital laboratoryMinimum 1 year Sunquest Build ExperienceMinimum 1 year Epic Integration ExperienceProficient in PC applications including, but not limited to: Microsoft Access, Crystal XI and general database programmingMaster's Degree in appropriate scientific field or MBAPossession of a clinical laboratory scientist (CLS) license or a similar license (MLT) of equal or higher level issued by the State Department of HealthAbout UCSF
