Chief Revenue OfficerAbout Oakland Roots SC and Oakland Soul SCOakland Roots Sports Club is a professional men’s soccer team that competes in the USL Championship (USL-C), the largest pro soccer league in the United States. Oakland Soul Sports Club is a pre-professional women’s soccer team that competes in the USL W League and will be promoted to the USL Super League once a game day venue is secured.Oakland Roots and Soul is the first purpose-driven sports club in the United States. ‘to increase the health, equity and happiness of Oakland by building a sustainable pro sports club with winning teams that develop talent and a world class brand’ .Oakland Roots and Soul’s target sales market includes Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco counties. In 2025, Roots will be the only professional sports team to call the Coliseum home.Position Summary
The Oakland Roots & Soul Chief Revenue Officer will lead revenue generation at a club poised for explosive growth in the next five years as it moves into the legendary Oakland Coliseum for its game days and expands to two fully professional teams with the elevation of Soul to the USL Super League.The CRO will report directly to the Team President and is responsible for club revenue, including oversight and direction of sponsorship, partnership marketing, ticket sales, ticketing operations, licensing and other revenue streams. This individual will be part of the executive leadership team, helping provide overall direction for the Club and interacting with the Board and ownership.Responsibilities
SPONSORSHIP
Establish and qualify Oakland Roots & Soul’s value proposition to sponsors and ensure consistency in messaging across all partner interaction.Identify, pursue, and close new business from qualified prospects for partnerships.Establish and implement sales and new business development strategies, including use of social media and other platforms, develop leads and close sales with partners, ranging from small businesses up to Fortune 500 companies.Define the value proposition and market to “C-Level” executives.Creatively conceptualize and pitch customized and unique activation programs to prospective partners.Interpret data analytics to best guide sales pitches and partner benefits.This role will be measured and rewarded based on the person’s ability to attract new sponsors and sales to Oakland Roots and Soul.With partnership marketing staff, implement sponsorship elements, maintain partnership relationships, and generate strong rates of renewed partnerships.TICKETING
Lead the sales team and cooperate with the club’s sales partner, Learfield Amplify, in defining success, creating strategy, and executing operations in ticketing and guest services.Lead the recruiting, hiring, training, and day-to-day management of the new stadium sales team.Design the calendar, content, and strategy for recurring sales events.Develop the sales journey, purchase process, CRM tracking, and sales-to-service hand-off strategy for club, membership, and supporters section seating.Lead the planning and implementation of all outbound sales efforts.Provide consistent reporting information by maintaining accurate daily, weekly, and overall updates of sales, outbound metrics, and event recaps.Establish the right mix of toolsets and apps to ensure success within the sales and sponsorship departments.Oversee ticketing operations and staff.GENERAL
Cooperate closely with head of marketing and marketing department on sales and partnership materials and strategy.Lead analysis of customer acquisition cost, cost of sales, sales efficiency, cost to serve partners, and other sales and service metrics.Utilize sales and service metrics to generate efficient and effective sales strategies and set goals.Personal Attributes

Minimum 5 years of successful sales experience and leadership with a proven track record of closing large, complex transactions.A high-energy leader with an affinity for, and love of, selling.An existing network of relationships with business leaders in the Bay Area, California, and across the country.A successful history of developing, implementing, and leading sales and marketing programs.Outcome-oriented and motivated by performance-based rewards.Experience in development and persuasive delivery of presentations to “C-Level” executives.Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a relevant field of study.Strategic thinker with attention to detail.Able to work all home games and schedule of team events throughout the year.Comfortable with a lean environment and the use of technology to make work more efficient.Compensation
