Chief Financial Officer

Job Summary

The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for managing and leading the financial initiatives of the Company. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership for our Finance department including our Project Finance, FP&A, and Administrative Accounting functions as well as managing our approach to raising capital and investor relations. The CFO will serve as a member of the Executive Team and will oversee all aspects of the Company’s structured finance, cost control management, financial planning, cash management, tax and accounting, risk management, and financial reporting functions. This role will interact with the Board of Directors and be a highly visible leadership position within a growing organization. The successful candidate will have public company experience, a strong working knowledge and background in public company accounting, treasury and finance, capital raising, including energy finance, construction finance and the economics of asset management. The CFO will act as the Executive Financial Leader across the organization working closely with the CEO on the organization’s operational and corporate finance strategy with a focus on initiatives long-term growth goals. This individual will be developing and executing strategy that will impact the company in the next stages of growth.

Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Planning:

Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's objectives and long-term goals.

Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and guidance to support strategic decision-making processes.

Drive financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes.

Analyze data and create financial models.

Develop plans for growth to increase company profit while also reducing expenditure.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.

Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Cash flow planning and management.

Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.

Cost Control:

Ensure appropriate setup for cost control for operations and production.

Risk Management:

Identify and assess financial risks and opportunities and develop strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.

Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Capital Acquisition & Management:

Lead fundraising initiatives to secure capital for expansion through debt and equity raise activities. Cultivate relationships with investors and financial institutions to drive the Company’s financial success.

Manage capital structure, including debt and equity financing, to optimize the company's cost of capital.

Evaluate investment opportunities and provide financial analysis to support capital allocation decisions.

Oversee Investor Relations:

Communicate the company's financial performance, strategy, and outlook to investors through earnings releases, conference calls, and presentations.

Collaborate with the company's legal and governance teams to ensure adherence to best practices in corporate governance and transparency, including compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.

Team Leadership and Development:

Build and lead a high-performing finance team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.

Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance organization.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, and CPA is required.

MBA or CFA is highly desirable.

15+ years of successful experience as a senior level executive; minimum 8 years of public company experience.

10+ years in a progressively responsible financial and operational leadership role, preferably in the manufacturing and/or energy sector.

Experience in energy financing, including tax equity, back leverage, and project finance is preferred.

The ability to impact and collaboratively lead a diverse stakeholder group ranging from the executive leaders, internal teams, partners, vendors and customers.

Adept at building strong relationships and seamlessly able to partner with the current executive team.

Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Initiative, persistence, an entrepreneurial spirit and energy with the desire to be part of a fast-growth start-up environment.

Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate solution value propositions to the executive team and the wider organization.

Prior experience with M&A business transactions and post-acquisition integration is highly desirable.

Start-up experience required, including early to mid-stage funding strategy and option analysis, and strong understanding of structuring term sheets / agreements across a variety of financing vehicles.

Knowledge of SEC reporting requirements is required specifically with filings of 10Q, 10K, etc.

Experience with financial software such as QuickBooks, SAP, etc.

Strong work ethic.
