Job SummaryThe Healthcare Equity Program and Strategy Manager will act as a leader to advance UCSF Health's institutional capacity to identify disparities and reduce disparities in access, experience, and clinical outcomes. The Program Manager will work under the direction of the Vice President of Quality and Safety. The Manager would have an administrator-clinical dyad partnership with the Health Equity Medical Director. The Manager will supervise professional level staff assigned to work within the Department of Quality and Safety's Healthcare Equity Division, including direct and indirect supervision, and assumes responsibility for the quality of work produced by organizational consultant staff. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established organization policies.

The Healthcare Equity Program Manager should offer content expertise around the foundational concepts of cultivating a culture and interpersonal relationships founded upon principles of diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging. Additionally, the individual should offer content expertise in translating these skills to health systems operations, analytic strategies, and quality improvement. Has solid understanding of organizational development, effectiveness, and strategic planning. Competently translates strategic vision and/or strategic visions into clear objectives and tactics. Establishes objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Recommends changes to policies, processes, and structures to improve UCSF Health's ability to identify disparities and reduce disparities. Assists with establishing goals and objectives in support of organizational effectiveness. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Reviews and approves recommendations for functional programs.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $113,500 - $258,100 (Annual Rate).

Department DescriptionThe Department of Quality & Safety consists of Adult Quality & Safety, Benioff Children's Hospitals (BCH) Quality & Safety, Hospital Epidemiology & Infection Prevention, Regulatory Affairs, Health Equity, and Clinical Documentation Integrity. The teams are made of multidisciplinary professionals with diverse backgrounds. The role of the Department is to support UCSF Health to deliver safe, equitable, and high-quality care to the communities we serve.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in healthcare or other related profession, or a combination of comparable clinical education and/or experience.

Minimum six years of related experience, five of which were at a lead/supervisory/management level.

Advanced knowledge of common organizational, research-specific, or other computer application programs.

Content expertise around the foundational concepts of cultivating a culture and interpersonal relationships founded upon principles of diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging.

Advanced knowledge of project management, quality improvement, and design-thinking methodologies.

Thorough knowledge of organization and system operations, protocols, and procedures.

Demonstrates leadership and management skills required to lead direct reports, in the areas of staff performance and development, team building and communications, resolution of issues and conflicts, review and approval of work, and hiring and training employees.

Requires a high degree of diplomacy, influence, and interpersonal skills to work effectively across the organization at all levels.

Able to interpret and communicate, both verbally and in writing, complex information in a clear and concise manner.

Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in healthcare or other profession, or a combination of comparable clinical education and/or experience.
