Senior Associate Director of Development, Department of Medicine
requires experience, sensitivity, diplomacy, and the ability to operate independently and as part of a team while representing Stanford Medicine, with a focus on individuals and families with the philanthropic capacity to make a gift of $250,000 to $10 million or more.The Senior Associate Director will serve on a “specialist” team managed by the Director of Development for the Department of Medicine to build upon the extraordinary growth of philanthropy over the past several years. All “specialist” fundraisers are tasked with creating strategic fundraising plans for their areas, including tactics to grow their prospect base and develop strategies for engaging donors.The Department of Medicine is committed to setting the highest standards for patient care, ground-breaking biomedical research, and professional education. You will work directly with innovative faculty and visionary donors, striving to make the donor experience as enriching and rewarding as possible while facilitating meaningful philanthropic gifts.In this role, you will:Define funding priorities for the department in partnership with the Director of Development.Develop strategic fundraising plans and execute assigned development activities.Interact regularly with faculty to gain knowledge about their programs and funding needs.Partner with academic leaders to develop proposals for transformative gifts.Manage approximately 75-100 philanthropic relationships with high-touch engagement.Assist in monitoring team goals and fundraising success.Develop and manage relationships of mutual respect and trust with faculty and staff.Collaborate with colleagues on fundraising activities.Stay informed on current university initiatives and contribute to overall priorities.Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and supporting an environment of diversity and inclusion.To be successful in this position, you will bring:Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.Proven ability to achieve fundraising goals and effectively work with diverse individuals.A sense of urgency in gift discussions and responding to opportunities.Commitment to a collaborative culture with patience and flexibility.Excellent writing, communication, and listening skills.Proven skills in managing competing priorities and complex issues effectively.The expected pay range for this position is $144,000 to $185,000 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on various factors.At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
