Western National Mutual Insurance Company seeks to expand its Underwriting team by adding an Underwriting Personal Lines Intern. Our company growth, combined with our focus on innovation, transformation, and investments in the customer experience are key drivers supporting the expansion of our team. Western National Intern Program Summary:
Western National provides a robust internship program designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry. This program not only offers practical, hands-on opportunities and project work in partnership with our personal lines underwriting team; but interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through a range of professional development activities, cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns, and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.
Position Summary:
As a Personal Lines Underwriting intern in our Internship Program, you will be a key contributor to our personal lines team. Possible tasks that you assist with include:
Learning insurance industry terms, goals, challenges, and business communication skillsPartnering with underwriting and other departments to modify renewal business as neededLearn the policy lifecycle and help handle changes requestsUpdate policies when incoming communication outlines a change in riskCommunicate requests for information with agents and internal customersRequirements
What You'll Need to Succeed:
Completed 2-3 years of college preferredWillingness to focus for extended periods of timeAbility to effectively prioritize, multi-task, and establish/meet deadlinesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAn understanding of various technology applicationsCompensation Overview:
The base pay offered for this position will be $20.00/hour.
