Job Summary

The Outbound Inspector is responsible for inspecting completed railcars for accuracy and conformance. The teams' goal is to ensure all outbound railcars meet AAR, Quality Assurance, and Customer guidelines and requirements.

Job DutiesInspect repaired cars to ensure all FRA, DOT, AAR, and Customer requirements are satisfied.Compare the work performed to the Work Order and report findings on applicable forms.Review Work Order and all applicable forms for accuracy and completeness.Maintain and update manuals such as Standard Repair Manuals and AAR and FRA Regulations. Review such manuals on a continuing basis to maintain complete knowledge of necessary repairs.Maintain records of cars shipped.Perform a variety of duties as assigned such as analyzing drawings, performing inspections, assuring proper stenciling of cars, and other special duties which may be assigned.Requirements

Experience and Education

High school diploma plus 2 years of college or equivalent is preferredAt least 5 years of Railcar repair experience.Welding and NDT experience is a plusCertified welding inspector VT Level II or the ability to achieve this certification.Knowledge of using a variety of tools and gauging devices.Knowledge of freight and tank car repair methods, material requirements, and inspection.Knowledge of MSRP M-1002 and Field manual or the AAR interchange rulesKnowledge of nondestructive testing procedures and requirements.Ability to interpret drawings, procedure manuals, and have proven mechanical aptitude.Computer proficiency, detail oriented, time management, verbal and written communication.Highly organized and able to prioritize and manage time efficiently with the ability to handle stress in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.Ability to work under tight time constraints, handle sensitive data, and multi-task so that deadlines can be met
