Job Summary

The HR Consultant Sr position serves as a management advisor and facilitator in the application of human resources policies and procedures for assigned GTRI unit(s). Assists with implementation of new or revised human resources policies and programs within the unit(s).

This position will interact on a consistent basis with: unit management and staff, Talent Management Department (TMD), Office of Human Resources (OHR) management and staff, and Research Faculty Affairs (RFA).

This position typically will advise and counsel: unit and OHR management.

This position will supervise or may supervise assigned staff, as needed

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -Interpret human resources policies and advise unit management regarding application

Job Duty 2 -Consult with units by providing advice and guidance related to human resources matters

Job Duty 3 -Review, analyze and advise management regarding human resources actions and issues (compensation, new hires, promotions, onboarding, offboarding, etc.). Coordinate resolution of exceptions

Job Duty 4 -Consult with Employee Relations unit in the guidance and facilitation of processing formal employee relations issues, conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations

Job Duty 5 -Serve as key liaison between assigned units management, TMD, OHR and RFA regarding all human resources related issues

Job Duty 6 -Collaborate and partner with research recruiting on recruiting needs to support onboarding efforts

Job Duty 7 -Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational RequirementsBachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required ExperienceFive to seven years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Business, Human Resources, or Organizational Psychology3 to 5 years of experience in human resources consulting in higher educationExperience working in a fast-paced business environmentProven experience as a Senior HR Consultant or similar roleStrong communication and interpersonal and critical thinking skillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
