Summary

Senior Systems Analyst 2 gather and analyze information for the purpose of developing and modifying very large highly complex data processing systems in specialized subject matter fields such as on-line and data base. Emphasis of the work is on defining problems and systems objectives, defining complex systems or related file structures, documentation of fact-finding, analysis of results, assurance of overall system efficiency and cost effectiveness of recommendations made and preparation of findings, recommendations and specifications in formal reports and oral presentations. Additional responsibilities include communication with and training of application programmers in defining system and program specifications and ensuring that programmers have a thorough knowledge of these requirements as they relate to the overall project. Incumbents are subject to assignment in very specialized subject matter areas, and will serve as team leaders in the implementation of major systems. They must exercise a high degree of technical judgment and initiative in applying probability theory and integrating management information and forecasting systems, as well as a high degree of ability in communication skills.

Responsibilities

Responsible for planning and conducting feasibility studies in response to user requests for service.Schedules meetings with division personnel as assigned to define requirements for analytical studies; discusses and evaluates management needs, objectives and goals susceptible to systems solution.Plans and conducts fact-findings interviews to gather information, analyzes results and arrives at design objectives and decisions.Performs as a technical liaison with user departments to coordinate all system development activities.Prepares overall system and file design specifications; develops detailed system modification, testing and conversion plans.Performs system environmental studies for new systems to determine the impact that the new system will have on the overall data processing environment and specifically, upon other production systems.Performs systems growth studies to aid in capacity planning.Communicates with and trains programmers in defining systems and program specifications and insures programmers have a thorough knowledge of these requirements.Act as team leader in the implementation of major systems.Provides a high degree of technical knowledge, judgment and initiative in applying probability theory and integrating management information and forecasting systems as well as a high degree of ability in communication skills.Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).Performs other related duties as needed.

Experience

Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
