The mission of the Division of Acute Care Surgical Services in the Department of Surgery is the advancement of science through research and the training of undergraduate and graduate students in our discipline. The Department fosters a level of research and professional activity essential to the graduate and to the professional growth of the faculty. The Division provides junior faculty with clinical and research experiences that prepare them for their professional careers. Chief Purpose of this position:
The Department of Surgery, Division of Acute Care Surgical Services, is hiring a general surgeon to assist with trauma call coverage. This will consist of approximately 2 calls per month. Provider will be expected to incorporate resident, fellow, and medical student education while on call.
Position Responsibilities:
Clinical responsibility will be in the care of the trauma patients on the MCV campus of VCU. He/she will be responsible for trauma call coverage of at least 2 calls per month. The provider will be expected to incorporate residents, fellows, and medical students into their practice while on call.
Required Qualifications:Board certification or eligibility in general surgeryCommitment to resident and fellow educationDemonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
