**Driver Trainee - CDL~A****Department:** Transportation **Location:** Grand Rapids, MIVan Eerden Foodservice is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan and we are actively seeking GREAT PEOPLE who want to become CDL-A Drivers! A ***Driver in Training*** will be trained by our skilled staff to obtain a commercial drivers license (CDL-A) and to learn our Company policies and procedures. Upon successful completion of the paid training program and successful completion of all necessary requirements for the position, the Driver In Training will be placed in a Route Delivery Driver Role within our Company.**Overview:**Van Eerden is a food distribution company that has been in operation for almost 100 years. Our delivery drivers play a critical role in making sure that the items the customer orders & needs make it safely into their establishment. You are the face of Van Eerden and a vital part of our team. While it is a tough job, it is an extremely important one to the function of our business and to the satisfaction of the customer.**Description of Position activities:*** Ensure safe, accurate, timely and efficient deliveries to our customers.* Using a hand cart, unload product from trailer and place product neatly and carefully in designated customer areas.* Collect money when required and turn in funds collected daily.* Perform daily DOT inspection of equipment.* Comply with FMCSA rules and regulations for DOT hours of service and compliance.* This is a very physically demanding job due to physical delivery/wheeling activities. The position requires repetitive bending, lifting, pushing and twisting up to 55 lbs. and occasionally lifting up to 100 lbs.* Build and maintain customer relationships. Collaborate with the Corporate Office to problem solve and provide timely resolutions for our customers.**Requirements:**- Must be 21 years old or older.- No felonies- Must obtain TIP and medical card- Qualified candidates will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and MVR and background check.- High school education or equivalent.- Must have English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills..**Benefits:**Competitive benefits after 30 days including: Health, dental, vision, life, tuition reimbursement and 401k with company matchOne week of vacation after 6 months - personal time and paid holidays from day one!
