Job Summary:Manage day to day PACS / RIS issues and answer clinical system helpdesk calls.Manage current PACS / RIS, clinical 3rd party system, and modality vendors.Advise administration and supervising physician on appropriate disaster recovery and operating policies and procedures for PACS / RIS operation.Analyze complex problems that may arise in organizational reporting within the departments of radiology/PACS.Recommend solutions to the Director of Clinical Applications & Product and other supervisory personnel.Maintain and update various departmental manual/plans as appropriate.Consult on purchasing decisions for equipment, regarding DICOM compatibility.Advise the Director of Clinical Applications & Product on clinical systems technological advancements to ensure that Radiology Associates of Hartford remains current and up to date.Create and manage the PACS / RIS training courses and schedules as required for radiologists, referring physicians and their office personnel, technologists, front desk receptionists, medical records personnel, and others as necessary.Participate in professional organization events e.g., HIMMS, SIMM and RSNA as required.Maintain and advance expertise in PACS systems by attending courses that expand current knowledge levels and understanding of the latest field technologies, share key learnings with Director of Clinical Applications & Product and other staff as appropriate.Assist the marketing department with their work on the PACS / RIS web product, provide training to the marketing department and referring physicians to implement PACS within the referring physician community.Analyze in monitoring short- and long-term archive space, work with the Director of Clinical Applications & Product for archive solutions.Integrate new modalities, workstations, facilities, and software into the overall PACS environment.Stay current on new technology and industry practices.After hours work is frequently necessary to address system maintenance to avoid interrupting business operations. After hours response will be necessary to address system failures as required. Attend and participate in staff meetings and on-the-job training programs as required.Maintain confidentiality of all patient health information (HIPAA) and PCI data.Perform other related duties within the job classification or organization as necessary or as assigned by Practice Administrator or Director of Clinical Applications & Product RequirementsEducation: Associate degree (two-year college or technical school) or work equivalentField of Study: JRCERT approved Radiology programExperience: Five plus years of experience in radiology or IT.Experience with medical practice management software and hardware applications.Ten years in the field of radiology or IS/IT department, and administrative position.General understanding of PACS and C.R. systems.General computer skills and an understanding of inter/intradepartmental workflow.Ability to communicate well with physicians, management, technical staff, and patients.Ability to present technical information in a sufficient yet thorough manner.
