Relative Dynamics is seeking a mid-level cross platform Linux Systems Administrator to join the Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Ground Sustainment Services (LGSS) program to add to our distinguished team to sustain and enhance the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS). The JPSS CGS is responsible for implementing JPSS Program command, control, and communications and data processing requirements for JPSS CGS-serviced missions. The JPSS is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation Program that acquires and distributes global environmental data from multiple polar-orbiting satellites, playing a critical role to NOAA's mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans, coasts, and space environments, which supports the Nation's economy and protection of lives and property. The incumbent shall live within 50 miles of Chantilly, VA. What You'll Do: Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems primarily within Linux and some Windows infrastructures. Understand and implement STIG policies as defined by client and industry standards. Heavy focus on Linux administration with a need for automation, LDAP management, patching, security baselines and maintenance in both a virtual and hardware centric environment. Management of VMware vSphere (including vCenter and ESXi) supporting multi-site environments. Configure and manage Linux operating system software within physical & ESXI virtual infrastructures as well as cloud based Virtual Machines (VMs) such as Amazon Web Services (AWS). Management, coordination, and implementation of software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on Linux including administering and using automated tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, etc. Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes. Identify issues and create improvement processes to help with the reduction of incident outage times. Develop and maintain O&M Standard Operating Procedures for developed capabilities. Write and edit scripts in Python, Perl, YAML, Jinja2, Bash, etc. Utilize JIRA in an Agile development environment. Support development and maintenance of automated testing Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Systems Administration experience administering user accounts, performing server subsystem configuration, network management, installation of software, performing backups, configuration management, and general system maintenance Linux system administration RHEL 7 & 8 Server Understanding of fundamental networking and distributed computing environment concepts, Linux desktop systems, performance tuning and capacity planning of servers (hardware and software levels) Experience with server ESXi VMWare virtualization methodologies Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira, Insight, Confluence, Risk Register, Crucible, Bitbucket, Git, etc. Experience working in an Agile development environment Familiar with Systems Engineering processes Willing to learn new things Within commuting distance of Chantilly, VA Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: IBM BigFix (TEM) experience Experience with Splunk, WSUS Experience with basic Network Protocols Experience implementing hardware architecture. Understanding of analytical needs and requirements for clients Experience supporting client meetings and participating in client requirement reviews and meetings Experience analyzing new hardware/software needs Familiar with working within a distributed virtual team environment, with proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to foster strong relationships with coworkers and vendors Highly organized with strong attention to detail Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to dynamically tailor communications effectively to different levels of the organization Windows system administration, managing Active Directory, group policy and DNS supporting multi-site environments.
