Big-D Heavy Industrial has an opportunity for an Estimator to join their team in Tempe, AZ.

Experience/Training:

Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering3-7 years' experience as an Estimator for an industrial general contractorConstruction field experience preferredCritical Skills:

Great customer service skillsExcellent computer skills, typing, Microsoft Office Suite, and BluebeamProficient in Timberline, Destini, OnScreen Takeoff, or similar estimating softwareConsistently produces accurate work and has excellent attention to detailGood time management skillsProfit orientedClear written and verbal communicationWork well in a team environmentIndustry knowledge and aware of current market conditionsRead and understand construction drawings and specificationsDuties, Responsibilities and Expectations: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)

Defines work scope and select subcontractorsDevelops important relationships with subcontractors and considers the relationship when making decisionsProficient in quantity takeoffsProficient in organizing and assembling estimates in Destini/excelSuccessful in hard bidding projects, organize scopes of work in bid day programBecomes proficient in conceptual estimating in the CM Process (Program, Schematic, DD, CD, etc.)Understands CPM Scheduling and can translate into construction budget. Clearly communicates with Subcontractors scheduling expectations.Understands means and methods of construction. Know the different labor productivity rates of these items.Knows unit costs of different construction materials and laborKnows overall SF cost of construction for different building typesBegin working with superior in design build projects (conceptual estimating, working with architects in design, manage budget)Understands VE process and participate in working sessionCall subcontractors and develops interest in projectsUnderstands turnover process and conveys project information comprehensivelyParticipates in forecast meetings and tracks budget vs. actual costs through constructionLearns financial risk management with subcontractor bidsSupports Big-D's mission and values as well as all policies and proceduresBenefits:
