SummaryThe Senior CEI Inspector is responsible for the monitoring daily activities of construction for conformance of client/contractor work on various projects to specifications. This position will perform engineering inspections activities such as construction observation and field sampling of asphalt, concrete, and earthwork for construction applications. As well, the position will coordinate, supervise, and train junior level inspectors.

ResponsibilitiesAbility to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing)Responsible for familiarity with the Department's Procedures covering the project related duties as stated above and proficient in the computer programs necessary to perform those duties.Responsible for exercising independent judgment in planning work details and making technical decisions related to field aspects of the project.Responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, marking, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.Cooperate with supervisors, contractors, subordinates, and the Department in the performance of duties.Responsible for directing, managing, training, and mentoring the junior-level inspectors.Perform and review material testing of construction materials.Confirm materials adhere to specifications.Inspect and verify construction work in process to ensure compliance.Resolve quantity differences with contractor and ensure plan and contract conformance.Responsible for performing work under the general supervision of the Project Administrator.Education and Experience Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, for the Senior Engineer Intern classification, an EI certificate is required.For candidates with engineering, engineering technology, or construction management degrees: Minimum of one (1) year of CEI experience in the construction of roadway or bridge structures.For candidates without engineering, engineering technology, or construction management degrees: Minimum of four (4) years of CEI experience in roadway or bridge construction.A valid Driver's License is required with a safe driving record and must complete a pre-employment screening.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.ICE is a drug-free workplace.CertificationsMust have the following as required by the scope of work for the intended assignment on the project at the time of NTP:

Physical Demands

This position requires minimal lifting of up to 50 pounds sometimes on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to travel and tour work sites under adverse environmental conditions not limited to loud noise levels, high dust and dirt, and extreme temperature. The employee must be able to visually examine construction materials and finished structures and work in various types of weather and field conditions, including heights, uneven terrain, highway traffic, hazards of highway construction sites and heavy equipment.

Expected Hours of Work

This position is full-time (40 hours per week). Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing one unpaid hour for lunch each day. While overtime is generally not anticipated, occasional projects or deadlines may necessitate additional hours, compensated according to company policy. Flexible schedules may be available with prior approval from the immediate supervisor. Work schedules may vary based on project demands.

Pay Range:

$26.00 - $35.50 per hour
