JMT is currently ranked #61 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms.JMT is seeking a CEI Senior Inspector for the Port St. Lucie, Florida area. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests and is responsible for coordinating and managing the lower-level inspectors. They will also apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesReview and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulationsPerforms routine tests on concrete, soils and other materialsMeasure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codesCoordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standardsAssign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the projectWork on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issuesGathers and maintains record documentsMakes field notes and computationsInteract with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries

Required Skills

Strong computer proficiencyMust successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Required Experience

High school graduate or equivalentFour (4) years of Construction Inspection Experience (CEI) experience in roadway or bridge constructionClient requested certificationsActive driver's license

Experience PreferredAssociates or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil EngineeringSupervisory experience in construction management/inspection situationsAbility to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge role

FDOT Intermediate MOTIMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level INuclear Radiation SafetyFlorida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors

Recommended when the scope of the project includes concrete pavement, grinding concrete pavement, or concrete pavement slab replacement. Abilities / ResponsibilitiesAbility to: Communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing)Responsible for: Performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, marking, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field testsResponsible for: Coordinating and managing the lower level inspectorsResponsible for: Performing work under the general supervision of the Project Administrator

Working ConditionsWork is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
